Welcome to Edition #4 of The Noise, a biweekly newsletter from me, Alec Puro, the founder of Viralnoise.ย Every couple of weeks, I send out:
- ON THE SCOREBOARD ๐ฌ The films, shows, and projects we're actively scoring (a look at where this music comes from before it ends up in our library)
- FRESH OFF THE PRESS โจ New albums and sound effects that just dropped. So you don't have to go hunting.
- IN THE WILD ๐ฑ How real creators are using Viralnoise. Stories, collaborations, and the occasional spotlight.
- WHAT I'M WATCHING ๐บ Something I'm into right now. A show, a podcast, a recommendation. Just for fun.
- FROM THE STUDIO ๐๏ธ What's going on in my world. Personal stories and honest thoughts
That's it.ย
Just a look at what's happening from the people making the music you use.ย
Alright, let's get to it!

On the Scoreboard ๐ฌ
There is a LOT going on right now, and some of it I can't fully talk about yet, but here's what I can share:
We just wrote two theme songs for two new A&E series (more details on that soon). I'm also about to start scoring another music documentary about a famous legendary musician that I'm dying to tell you about, but I literally can't yet. The second I'm able to, you'll hear it from me first.
On the sports side, it's always a fun one for us. Our music has been showing up across college sports coverage and of course the NBA 2K series, which we've been part of for 15 years now. There's something kind of cool about hearing a track you wrote underneath a highlight reel or in the menu screen of a game millions of people are playing. It never really gets old.

We also had a track featured in the trailer for the new Disney Pixar film Hoppers, which was a fun surprise to see land.
And then the bigger one - we just finished music supervising and creating additional music for a new film directed by John Travolta called Propeller One-Way Night Coach. It's premiering at the Cannes Film Festival and being distributed by Apple TV. You can check out the announcement here. Working on something that's going to Cannes is always a special moment, and being part of a film John Travolta directed is one of those things you don't really expect when you start your week.
Fresh Off the Press โจ
We drop a new album every Tuesday and new sound effects on a regular basis, so here's a look at what's recently landed in the library.

NEW MUSIC ๐ต
Desolate Emotions
Poignant ambient music with heartbroken sadness and introspective melancholy depth. Minimalist emotional atmospheres for troubled dramatic storytelling.
Percussion Toolkit 1
Hard hitting percussion beds with dramatic tension and dynamic builds. Moody rhythmic sounds for intense storytelling. These are the kinds of tracks that work great as a foundation you can build other elements on top of, or run on their own under high-stakes moments.
Both live in the library now!
In the Wild ๐ฑ
Two creator stories I wanted to share this time around.
The first one - our music was used in coverage of a fashion show at New York Fashion Week. They used a track called "Diamond Dodos" from our EDM album Sonic Electronic. Seeing our music end up under a runway show in New York is one of those things that reminds me how broad the use cases are now. Music we wrote ends up everywhere - TV shows, podcasts, video games, fashion week. It's wild.

The second is from VFX artist Thomas Gellert, who's been using our music to give his visuals extra weight. One of his latest pieces shows how he transformed a serene cityscape into a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and the music does so much of the work to sell the transformation.ย You can watch the reel here. Stuff like that is exactly why we love seeing how people use our catalog. We make the music, but you bring it to life.
What I'm Watching ๐บ
Not watching this time, listening.
I've been deep into the Deftones latest record Private Music, and it's so good.
A little personal context on this one. Back in the early 2000s, my band toured with Deftones multiple times. We opened for them on the Family Values tour in 2006 and a few others along the way. So they're a band that's been part of my life for a long time, and I've always been a huge fan of what they do.

What's amazing to see is that they're now selling out arenas and have a whole new generation of younger fans.
They've never compromised on their sound - they've just kept making the music they want to make - and somehow that authenticity has come back around in a huge way. There's a lesson in that, I think. Just keep doing the thing you believe in and eventually the world catches up.
If you haven't checked out Private Music yet, do yourself a favor.
From the Studio ๐๏ธ
One thing we've been working on behind the scenes for a while is putting together a resource hub for creators. A collection of the stuff we'd want to bookmark ourselves if we were on the other side of this.
It's now live: Everything Worth Bookmarking - The Creator Resource Hub.
Have a poke around, see if anything's useful. And if there's something you wish we'd cover, reply to this email and let me know. We're building this for you, so the more we hear from you about what you want, the better it gets.
